Get To Know Us: Making Gingerbread Houses

In today's blog post, team member Karen talks about a tradition she looks forward to every year, and the joy of doing this with her sweet grandchildren.

My favorite thing to do during the holidays is make gingerbread houses with my grandchildren. It’s a special tradition, and I look forward to it all year. Getting to spend time with my grandchildren and share in their joy as we set up the decorating materials is truly wonderful.

The candy, icing, and even the mess are all part of the fun. While I spend a lot of time in homes because of real estate, I think these gingerbread houses have to be the best!

I love that you can stick to a certain theme with decorating (such as a candy cane themed house), or you can use every snack in your cabinets! Through the years, I’ve come across some decorations that I think are adorable – such as frosted mini-wheats for the roof, and pretzel sticks for wood.

Below are ideas for decorating, links to kits, and a homemade gingerbread house recipe if you want to go the extra step!
