Understanding Real Estate: Preparing to Downsize - Part 3

What stays, what goes, and what's weighing you down? When you're looking to downsize, it means you're going to have to pick and choose what makes it to the moving truck. Getting organized and decluttered can be exhausting, and the feelings that come with it can be too.

The good news is that there are things you can do to make this process a bit smoother. Your mindset is half the battle! Keep reading to find out more about how to get tidied up without feeling tired out! Here's part 3 of our "Preparing to Downsize" series.

Remember: It's All Just Stuff!

At the end of the day, all of the things stored throughout your home are just that...things! They may spur memories of a person - but memories are forever, the stuff is not!

Digitize What You Can

CDs, DVDs, cassettes, videos, pictures, and important documents can all be digitized and saved to the cloud or a computer hard drive to free up important space. Not only will you be able to access them whenever and wherever you want, but digital files will long outlast your physical copies.

Start Early, & Start Small!

Take your time, and don’t try to sort through your entire house in one day or one weekend. A couple of weeks to a month is a more realistic timeline. Make it part of your weekend routine, and little by little...you will be done! :)

We would love to help you with the entire process!

It is always less stressful when you have someone in your corner!

We hope you enjoyed these tips on preparing yourself (mind, schedule & all!) for downsizing. When the day comes, you'll have your boxes, tape, and the mindset you need to make decluttering and downsizing a success!
